I open my eyes, what do I see?
I see a green meadow edged by forest and mountain,
The sky was blue with only a few clouds,
The wind moves past me and the grass combs it like hair,
Everything was so clear like polished crystal,
Though the mountains were far I could still see the ice that crowns the mighty kings of rock and stone,
There is only one word that would describe this place: Peace,
There was not a sound, only the grass being brushed by the wind,
But then something took me from this place,
It was not a hand, nor the wind, but a sound,
I blink only to find myself not in the meadow that haunts my dreams,
But a forest of stone and metal,
The sound pierces my being,
It is then that I am met with regret,
Regret at how we live,
Guarded by stone and metal from the outside world,
Trapped in a maze that is slowly filling with putrid air,
Isolated from the most beautiful and precious thing in the world,
Nature…

It's so beautiful! This reminds me of my trip to Iceland... [it's another one of my speeches] when I got back, so full of all the sights and everything that seemed to just be perfectly natural to the Icelanders, the first thing that hit me was the geometricity of the city - blocks and blocks of metal, hundreds of them all in rows, dominating the skyline. I thought back to the hills and mountains that had pierced the blue horizon with such vivid colour and the perfect harmony between itself and nature. The way the weather could run free in such an environment, the smell of the fresh air and the way the sun would cast playful shadows over the whole landscape, making every moment a breath-taking one...
Then I stepped outside the airport - and all those who were with me will agree - the pollution hit us just as the sulphur in the water had when we arrived. I mean, if water smelled of egg fart, you'd notice wouldn't you? We got used to it, just as the Icelanders had. It was so sad, the way that nobody seemed to notice it! I longed for the sulphur so badly, the perfect natural eutopian experiment, so natural, so calm - and as you said, there was only one word to describe that place...
Peace.
I love you, I'm sitting here crying. You are an amazing writer. I'm sorry if you're sat there thinking "what a loser, what's with the essay?" but your words are so meaningful and... promise me you'll send this in to like the BBC or something, kay? Favourite from moi ^_^

I felt like putting a bullet between the eyes of every Panda that wouldn't screw to save its species. I wanted to open the dump valves on oil tankers and smother all the French beaches I'd never see. I wanted to breathe smoke.~Fight Club
